Good company that goes with you.
Meet JOYELO — a small, friendly mobile AI companion designed to move with your loved one throughout the day: from the living room to the kitchen, and everywhere life happens in between.
Concept-stage product. Mobile features are under development, and our first family pilot is being prepared — join the list and we'll invite you first.

Shown honestly, as it becomes real
This space is reserved for real footage: Joyelo following a senior from living room to kitchen, pausing when she stops, chatting naturally, and returning to its dock. It will be filmed with pilot families — we won't animate our way around showing you the truth. Until then, here is exactly where each piece stands.
Follows, room to room
Following at a respectful distance, stopping when she stops, parking out of the way — the core of the Joyelo idea, now in prototyping.
Talks, remembers, connects
Conversation, reminders, and family calls are the most mature part of Joyelo — exercised with pilot families whose feedback shapes every update.
Docks itself to recharge
Self-docking between moments together — no cables for her to manage, nothing to plug in at night.
Concept design
A little companion that moves with you
Joyelo stands roughly a foot tall (about 20–40 cm) — small enough to feel like a companion, not an appliance. A smooth wheeled base lets it move across suitable indoor floors, and it's light enough to be carried to another room when needed. Underneath is the AXIS AI companion platform, designed for one person: an older adult, at home, who deserves company that keeps up with their day.
Moves With You
From the living room to the kitchen, Joyelo is designed to stay close as life moves — following along, or waiting patiently where it's told to stay.
Talks With You
Real conversations, familiar stories, favorite music, and gentle daily reminders — all by voice, with nothing to learn and no screen to read.
Keeps Family Close
Thoughtful ways to share moments and stay connected across any distance — always with the older adult's permission, never behind their back.
Company that doesn't stay in one room
A fixed device waits on a table. Joyelo is designed for a day that moves — illustrated here as concept scenes, with following and navigation in active development.
Chat while the kettle boils
Recipes, reminders, and company while she cooks — Joyelo rolls along and parks nearby, out of the way.
"Your tea is ready. Shall we call Susan while it cools?"
The heart of the day
Stories, music from her era, a trivia game, a stretch break — where she spends her day, Joyelo is there too.
"Shall I put on the Sinatra album you liked yesterday?"
Quietly standing by
In the evening Joyelo settles at its dock or by the bedside — lights low, voice soft, there if called, silent if not.
"Good night, Margaret. I'll be right here if you need me."
From first coffee to good night
An ordinary day, made less quiet. Everything below is how Joyelo is designed to work — the pilot will show us how families actually live with it.
A gentle start
Joyelo greets her by name and asks how she slept — a question, not a measurement. Morning medication comes up in conversation, along with the weather and today's plan.
Along for the day
It follows her to the kitchen for lunch, keeps a story going, and suggests a short walk when the sun comes out. If she'd rather be alone, one word parks it quietly.
Family, one sentence away
"Joyelo, call Emma." Video calls, photos from the grandkids, and voice notes — no smartphone in her hands, ever. With her permission, family later sees a short note built from her check-ins and what she chose to share: she had lunch, she enjoyed her garden, she's in good spirits.
Docked and standing by
Joyelo returns to its dock to charge, or stays by the bedside if she prefers. It doesn't wander the house at night — a companion should be findable, not surprising.
Built by people who understand technology — and people
Designed by experts. Made to move with you. Built for the whole family. Our team brings together artificial intelligence, robotics, education, and a career's worth of understanding how people actually live.
Dr. Ann Cai
Professor of Teaching at Northeastern University, where she holds a full professorship; earlier in her career she taught at Harvard and MIT. Joyelo's founding question — how do people stay engaged, learning, and connected as they age — is the question her career has always asked.
Zeyu Li
PhD in Computer Science from UCLA. A founding member of Robinhood's AI agent team, he builds the conversation engine at Joyelo's heart — the part a senior will judge in the first ten seconds.
Tengyu Liu
PhD from UCLA, advised by Song-Chun Zhu; senior researcher at BIGAI. He leads the perception and movement work that lets a small robot share a home safely.

For adult children: connection, not just information
You don't only want data about Mom — you want to be part of her day. Joyelo makes that easy, on her terms.
- Send photos, voice notes, and "thinking of you" moments she receives by voice
- Start a video call she answers by simply talking
- A short daily note from her check-ins and what she shares — status, never surveillance
- One family account for the whole home, even with two robots
A companion who keeps up with you
Joyelo isn't a gadget to learn or a monitor to tolerate. It's a little friend who comes along — to the kitchen, to your reading chair, to wherever your day goes.
"You decide where it goes, when it talks, and what it shares. It follows you — never the other way around."
Concept design
One companion. Every part of home.
American homes have stairs; companions don't climb them. So for two-story homes, the plan is simple: one Joyelo per floor, each with its own dock, sharing one family account and the settings your loved one allows. We don't ask a senior to carry a robot up the stairs — that's exactly what the second Joyelo is for.
JOYELO Solo
One mobile companion for a single floor — an apartment, a ranch home, or the floor where life mostly happens.
JOYELO Home Duo
Two companions, one per floor, designed to share permitted preferences and reminders under one household account — a feature in development, and one reason we're running a pilot before selling it.
Honest note: two robots improve coverage; they don't create it everywhere. Stairs, bathrooms, charging time, and closed doors still leave gaps — see Safety & Privacy.

Honest about what moves, and what it means
A robot that moves through a senior's home carries responsibilities a tabletop device never faces. We'd rather show our work than make promises — so every capability on this page carries its real status.
Concept design
Being built
Room-to-room following, obstacle avoidance, self-docking, and two-robot coordination. Designed and prototyped — not yet proven in homes.
Being tested
Conversation, reminders, family messaging, and the family app — exercised with pilot families, whose feedback changes the product.
Nothing is "validated" until we publish it
Safety features — especially anything about falls — will be marketed only with pilot results behind them, misses included.
Safe Following
A respectful following distance and obstacle sensing, so Joyelo is never underfoot.
Easy Stop
One sentence — or one physical switch — halts movement and sensing instantly.
Privacy Control
Camera, microphone, and family sharing are hers to pause, limit, or revoke.
Charging & Standby
Self-docking, low-battery warnings to the family app, and quiet standby at night.
Moving safely around her
- Respectful distance. Joyelo is designed to follow at a comfortable gap — never at her heels — and to stop when she stops.
- Slow by design. Walking pace or less, indoors, on suitable flat floors.
- It parks out of walkways, and obstacle sensing for furniture, rugs' edges, and pets is a core development priority — a small robot near the feet of someone at fall risk must never become the hazard.
- Stop is instant and hers: a voice command or the physical switch halts movement and sensing.
How fall alerts are designed to work
- 1. Notice. If a Joyelo is nearby and awake, its vision system is designed to notice a possible fall.
- 2. Ask. It speaks first: "I noticed a fall — are you okay?"
- 3. Alert. No answer, or a request for help, and family is notified through the app and by phone. A 24/7 monitoring center is planned for the Guardian service.
Coverage exists only where a Joyelo is present — stairs, bathrooms, and charging time are gaps, not details. In any emergency, always call 911.
What Joyelo can't do
- It can't climb stairs. Multi-floor homes need one Joyelo per floor (the Home Duo).
- It isn't whole-home coverage, and no honest robot is: closed doors, garages, and yards are out of reach.
- It needs battery and Wi-Fi. When it's charging or the network is down, features pause.
- It is not a medical device. It doesn't diagnose or treat, and it doesn't replace a caregiver, an emergency button, or 911.
Your home. Your privacy.
- Family sees status, never a live camera, and no tracking map — a short well-being note, shared only with the senior's permission.
- Everyday audio and video are processed to understand and respond — not stored as a watchable archive. A visible indicator shows when camera or microphone is active.
- Movement data stays home: following you around the kitchen never becomes a record for anyone else.
- Her controls: quiet it with one word, stop it following, revoke sharing — by the senior herself, anytime, not just by whoever paid.
No manual. Just talk.
Designed for people who never asked for another device in their life.

We set up the dock
Joyelo's charging dock goes in the room where the day starts. We connect Wi-Fi, place the dock, and confirm everything works — she doesn't set up a thing.
Say hello — then "follow me"
Joyelo introduces itself and learns names and routines. From then on it's voice only: "Joyelo, follow me," "Joyelo, stay here," "Joyelo, call Emma."
It charges itself
Between moments together, Joyelo returns to its dock to recharge — no cables for her to manage, no charging routine for her to remember. Battery performance will be published from pilot testing, not promised from a lab.
We're here for your family, too
A companion for your parent should never become homework for you. Here is the support Joyelo is being built around — stated as commitments we intend to keep, with full policy details published before any order opens.
Concept design
Set up for you
You don't need to fly home to install it. Dock placement, Wi-Fi, and first introductions are handled with our team — in person where we operate, or by guided video call.
Real people, real help
Questions go to a US-based support team that knows your parent's setup — by phone or video, in plain language, at senior-friendly pace. Remote diagnostics (with permission) fix most issues without a house call.
If something breaks
Pilot units are fully supported by our team. At launch, repair and replacement terms — costs, timelines, and loaner policy — will be published in plain language before the first order, not after the first problem.
If it's not a fit
Some parents won't warm to a robot, and that's okay. A home trial period and clear return terms are part of the launch plan; exact days and conditions will be confirmed with pilot families and published with pricing.
A Christmas gift that shows up every day
For the parent who says "I don't need anything": not another sweater — a little companion in the house, and you, never far away. Beautifully boxed, set up by us, welcomed by name.
Priced with pilot families, not at them
A mobile robot costs more to build than a speaker — a base, a battery, navigation, and the service behind it. We're finalizing prices with pilot families before we publish numbers we can't honor.
